It’s that time of year when we test our mettle and take on that long Hwy 2 stretch from Gananoque to Kingston. It’s 30K right to the store and a tradition for KRRA runners. This is not a formal running event. It is an extension of the Runners’ Choice Sunday morning runs.
We meet before 8am and carpool to the Subway Restaurant in Gananoque. At 8:30am we leave Gananoque, running back to Kingston via Hwy 2 to the Runners’ Choice Kingston store where we either: A: hoist java in celebration, or B: head to The Kingston Brewing Company for a hearty breakfast.
Coach Al Cantlay is generous to organize water drops points, and will be traveling up and down Hwy 2 to check on all runners.
Can’t run 30K?! That’s okay. You can pick your distance and you will be dropped off and/or picked up to finish with the crew.
Available to volunteer? This would be greatly appreciated as more than one vehicle is needed to haul runners to the start to avoid folks having to return to Gan to pick up their cars.
There is no cost for this event and as mentioned above, no formal route with pylons or marshals. It’s a straight run in along the south shoulder of Hwy 2, rain or shine, into Kingston.
You in? Let us know so we can begin to arrange transportation.
Here is a story and photos from last year’s run.

Santa Claus is running to town.
Al Cantlay and the entire team here at Runners’ Choice are excited to announce the Annual Runners’ Choice Santa Run, Christmas store event, starting at 10am on Sunday December 20th, 2015.
Join the fun as Runners’ Choice, customers, fans, friends and Kingston runners come together for a easy-going run through downtown Kingston to get into the holiday spirit. It’s also an opportunity for Al and the Runners’ Choice crew to say ‘thank you’ for being such terrific supporters all year.
In addition to taking a nice leisurely run out to Sir John A MacDonald and back, there will be lots of goodies. Bring a non-perishable food item (for the Kingston Food Bank) and Runners’ Choice will give new runners a $10 Gift Voucher to spend in the store.
Our goal is to grow the already strong Kingston running community. Let’s introduce the fantastic activity of running to new folks, so they can enjoy great community, great health and a prosperous 2016.
We start from the store (56 Brock St.) at 10am.
Bring a friend, join the run, then we arrive back at the store for giveaways, hot drinks, nibbles and more running camaraderie.
Sharing the love of running is perhaps the best gift you could give someone you care about.
Enjoy the photos from last year’s Santa Run, here.
